This is so true — all of it! One thing I would add is to let the pros help you. My hair stylist was so supportive and creative on my behalf, and I found someone to help me update my makeup. And now I’m realizing that, on a subliminal level, you were an inspiration! I’ve been a fan for more than twenty years.
I stopped coloring in October and needed the extra encouragement. Getting the time - and money - back is awesome but it is certainly challenging in our beauty obsessed culture. Thank you for this!
Very inspiring! I transitioned 8 years ago when I turned 50. My scalp just couldn't take the color anymore (also hated those white roots). My colorist lightened the brown ends to more closely match my real color during the growing-out phase, which helped.

I switched to semi permanent several months ago with hopes it will make the transition easier / faster. Will see once I get started.!
